Norway’s total domestic loan debt held by the general public increased by 4.3% year-on-year to NOK 8.01 trillion at the end of July 2026, slightly below the 4.4% growth recorded in June. Lending to non-financial corporations grew by 4.0%, down from 4.1% the previous month, reaching NOK 2.41 trillion. Credit to municipal government also slowed, rising 3.4% compared with 3.7% in June, to a total of NOK 836.6 billion. Household loan debt expanded by 4.6% to NOK 4.77 trillion, following a 4.7% increase in the previous month. On a seasonally adjusted annualized one-month basis, overall loan debt for the general public rose by 4.3%, edging down from 4.4% in the prior period.
